Fintech startups: Can you solve Standard Chartered's corporate challenge?

Standard Chartered has posed two corporate challenges that it is seeking solutions to, in exchange for potential collaboration opportunities and further incentives.

Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM) is helping leading technology providers in Abu Dhabi solve corporate challenges by matching them with fintech startups that can create innovative solutions, as part of its upcoming Fintech Abu Dhabi Innovation Challenge 2021.

Among the corporate champions participating is Standard Chartered, a British multinational banking group with more than 80,000 employees and a 150-year history in some of the world’s most dynamic markets. SC offers an extensive range of Islamic and conventional banking products and services for retail, private, commercial and corporate.

Standard Chartered’s Challenge Statements:

1. Most businesses in emerging markets do not have access to real-time up to scale carbon emission data. Their participation in carbon markets is limited to supplying offsets through projects that reduce greenhouse emissions that are consequently sold to industrialised countries that have not achieved their mitigation targets.

How might we track, gather and standardise carbon emission data making it available for research and increasing trader participation in the Carbon market?

2. A high functioning supply chain can allow a business to manage its sustainability impact of providing goods and services to its customers. Generally, the supply chain creates far greater social and environmental costs than normal production operations in greenhouse-gas emissions, impact on air, land, water, biodiversity and geological resources.

How might we use supply chain platforms to enhance sustainability?
